After deciding what was within my budget and what I wanted, I found "Zealous" on Yacht World's website : http://www.yachtworld.com/ - an Ericson 32' Sloop w/ a diesel engine, a seaworthy cruiser birthed at Marina Bay, Berkeley. I will be using her as a part-time live-aboard.
I purchased the Ericson 32' Sloop through a broker. It really helped to know the kind of boat I wanted. I had a budget of $20K, which can buy a pretty decent used yacht. I was looking for something in the 32' - 36' range.
After spending a month evaluating different harbors from San Diego to San Francisco, I settled for Marina Bay, Berkeley for now ... uh, I mean Richmond. Its not really what you think. Its like living in West Palo Alto versus East.
